Elizabeth East Primary School students performed at the Lunar New Year street party in China Town recently.
According to the Chinese Zodiac, 2017 heralds the Year of the Fire Rooster, and celebrations in China Town Adelaide were held over the weekend of Saturday 4th February. The line up of entertainment included traditional Lion Dancing performned by Elizabeth East Primary School students studying Chinese through Language Partnership Program at Open Access College.
"It's a terrific opportunity for the kids to be involved in Lion Dancing and perform publically at such a prominent community event", Mrs Brigitt Pilcher, Teacher of Year 6/7 at Elizabeth East Primary School remarked.
Elizabeth East Primary School's Lion Dance Group formed at in 2016, with the new extra-curricular activity quickly sparking interest among students. This year, the Lion Dance Group aims to perform at a number of community events throughout the year.
