Recently senior years students visited Open Access College Marden campus to take part in curriculum workshops.
Stage 1 and 2 Physics workshop – 2 March 2017
Physics students used creative energy to design their own motion experiments, this lead to a range of different projectiles and everyone had ideas to help. There are so many people to thank including, the Marden lab assistant who is always full of ideas and willingness to share facilities. A school sent their marble shooting equipment, with Marden supplying a simpler one that didn’t lose spring tension. The physical Ed department of Marden Senior College supplying a range of balls and the Mars stadium allowing us to use their large protected space. Students with patience and persistence overcame design problems and successfully gathered data to analyse. While, the stage 1 Physics students tried to calculate just how fast as Newtons Laws came to life with gravity accelerating balls down ramps.

Year 10 Science Workshop – 10 March 2017
Initially science students entered the lab quietly, but in a short time the interested conversations began and a happy buzz filled the lab. Students explored DNA they had extracted from peas exclaiming over the detail revealed under magnification. An atmosphere of cooperation was evident with students helping each other to use unfamiliar equipment. Inspired students finished the day with energy and enthusiasm, requesting when the next workshop would be.
