Reword is an online tool that identifies ‘cruel or intimidating language’. The tool will strike a red line through text that is offensive as a way of encouraging the sender to rethink the words they are using. Reword does not block a message, rather it creates the alert that the message might give offense.
Headspaces, the national mental health organization developed the tool in conjunction with advertising agency, Leo Burnett in Melbourne. The program is free for parents and schools. To read more and see Reword in action, go to: http://reword.it
