Magazines on Flipster!
Have you tried Flipster yet? This is where we have magazines available online. To access the magazines go to the Library Link on the OAC website http://www.openaccess.edu.au/about/library and click on the Ebsco databases link. You will need to use the username: marden and the password: library. Click on Flipster and check out the magazines available. You can look at current issues as well as back copies.
Library Services
As well as magazines the library has an extensive range of resources you can access either via the website or we can send them out to you, including books, DVDs, and audio books. Resources are available online too via the Library link on the OAC website. By clicking on the Library link you can access the library catalogue, Encyclopedia Britannica and a range of other sites and databases. We also have a great tool for helping to write bibliographies. Library staff are available to assist students and parent/supervisors.
National Simultaneous Storytime 2017
Join us on 24 May as we participate in National Simultaneous Storytime. We will be part of a large number of people all over Australia reading the same book at the same time. More details will be available via the library and class teachers soon.
Premier’s Reading Challenge
Students at all year levels can also join in the Premiers Reading Challenge. To complete the Challenge students need to read 12 books and fill out the titles on the form. Certificates and medals will be sent to students in term 4. If students have participated at other schools or had a break of time in between the Challenge they will still continue to progress through the levels – the system keeps track of it all! Please contact the library if you need us to send a form and keep on reading!
Library Assembly for R-6 students
Library Assembly happens each Wednesday afternoon at 1.30pm in term time on WebEx. R-6 Students from both the Marden and SOTA campuses are welcome to get involved and join in the storytelling and activities loosely organised around a weekly theme.
History Month celebrations
May is History Month. We have organised displays in the library to highlight some of the contributions and achievements from South Australians over time. We are also displaying a range of historical fiction books – many set in various parts of South Australia. Let us know if you would like to read any of them!
If you are able to make it in to Marden, please visit us in the library and meet the staff and check out the resources.
